Styling Velvet For Winter

I love winter styling- mixing textures, materials, layers and just having a hell of a lot of fun with what you’re wearing. A personal style favourite of mine that is currently trending is velvet. That old fabric which, 3 years ago, we associated with bad 90’s fashion and school parties which included Barbie girl being played at least 5 times, cherry pop and way too much pick’n’mix for 10 year olds to handled. I’m still scared from primary school discos… can you tell?

But fast forward to now, velvet is EVERYWHERE- from the cover of Vogue to snaps of Arianna Grande on her morning coffee run. It’s such a fun trend to be getting involved in and the highstreet stores are LAPPING UP the velvet love! I have been really enjoying styling up velvet with so many different looks and cannot believe the compliments I get when I wear it (also what is it about velvet that just makes you want to stroke it all damn day?)

Velvet flares are EVERYWHERE right now and this Topshop pair are a real winner. I adore the stretchy, comfy waist band (bloated girls holla) and am in awe that they fit so amazingly well over my waist, bum and thighs. An issue I always have with trousers is trying to fit all three- but because of the stretchy material, it flatters my figure perfectly and is sooooo comfy to wear.

I have been loving styling velvet with a puffer jacket- the most casual, sports-luxe trend right now! Mixing up the velvet with a casual top piece makes the outfit so much more everyday and so much more wearable. This Topshop check puffer is giving me all the Clueless vibes and I am LIVING FOR IT.
