Stop Comparing Yourself To Others

Comparing yourself to others is one of the worst things we can do as human beings. Yet we do it anyway. I don’t know why but we always seem to keep coming back and thinking ‘I’m not getting that’ or ‘I’m not doing that’… But it never helps. I saw a quote recently and it said ‘why do we compare our back stage with others front of house?’ And it’s totally true. You never know the behind the scenes from others and that’s one reason why comparing yourself to them is rubbish!

So here are my tips at how to stop comparing yourself to others.

Self-acceptance

Recently I’ve been really trying to stop comparing myself to others. I’ve realised that I’m not an A* student like some of my friends, I’ve not got a tall, model body like other friends. But I’m working hard, getting good grades and looking after my body so that I am happy with it. I have come to a place where I am starting to accept who I am as a person and I find that it helps so much when it comes to looking at others. Love yourself and who you are, quirks and all.

Focus on your strengths rather than weaknesses

So you’re crap at maths? Just look at how great at art you are. Stop focusing at what you can’t do and stop to think about what you can girl. Tell yourself ‘YES girl I am so proud that you can ……’ And just focusing on bugging yourself up, rather than constantly putting yourself down.

Only compete with yourself

I am so about self improvement. I always try to look back on myself and see how I have improved. I think that competing with yourself is the best way to learn and grow as a person, to ensure that you are the best version of you that you can be.

Lastly, surround yourself with the right people

There’s nothing worst than surrounding yourself with bad people who compare themselves to you openly and make you feel bad. Make sure that you are surrounded by people who only want to do you right and make sure that you are doing your best. Be with people you bring you up, not pull you down.

Lets all try to be better at loving ourselves and stop comparing yourselves to others. Just to show how happy we need to be, heres a picture of me looking like a kid in a candy store. You’re welcome.
