How To Kick The January Blues

I think we can all collectively agree that this January has been one of the hardest Januarys to ever January. There really must be something in the air because I have never seen so many people collectively struggling all at the same time. There’s not a single person who I have spoken to who have said that they’re having a great start to the year or their January is really smooth sailing or they’re feeling good.

Just me?

Seeing as though so many of us are struggling I thought it was about time that we officially kick the January blues in the bud and pull through this slow, cold, dark month collectively. So here are my top tips on how to kick the January blues.

Have a clear out

One of  my favourite ways to reset, restart and refresh is to physically clear things out. Think of it like a spring clean but for winter. Go through your closet, your cupboards, your fridge, your makeup bag, your shampoos, your skincare – your storage. Anything and everything that could have been collecting things since last year, it’s time to clear them out.

Sit down and set some goals

I love being able to set yearly goals and look forward to what I want to achieve in the year ahead. Life goals, work goals and personal goals. Add them to the list and motivate yourself to hit those goals.

Gratitude Journal

One of my big new years resolutions is to be much better at journalling and practising gratitude. I always find when I am in a state of gratitude, my life runs so much smoother and if you believe the power of manifestation then you probably aren’t surprised. Practising gratitude is such a great way to anchor and ground yourself and remind you of how much you have to be grateful for.

Let yourself rest

Just like nature doesn’t run 24/7, we also need to allow ourselves time off. Time to hibernate, time to recharge and time to reset. It’s such a hard time to motivate yourself right now so if you need to have time off and rest, don’t beat yourself up about it. Rest is productive.
