20 Things I have Learnt In (almost) 20 Years of Existence

As of the 2nd of June of this year, I am going to 20. Officially an adult? Maybe. Not longer in my teens. Woah. Time to start growing up? Naaah.

Age is something that I have spoken about a little bit here on the ol’ PetiteElliee, and is something that I often don’t share with you. I have found it to be a barrier, it has been a form of prejudice and something that I always prefer to brush over. But as I am on my last approach to the ripe old age of 20, I wanted to share a few words of wisdom. And hey, 20 may not be the longest time to have formulated these ‘top tips’ that I have for you. But I have had a great deal of life experience behind those short years, and hey, sometimes its nice to get a perspective from a some-what-adult who seems to be just bumbling about life… But anywho here are the things that I have learnt.

1- You will never stop needing your mum

2- Things will not always go your way

3- Food goes off waaay quicker than expected

4- Always wear suncream

5- Life is short, eat the cake

6- First impressions are important

7- Bras suck

8- Always better to overcook the chicken than to undercook it

9- Never apologise for who you are

10- Do more of what makes you happy

11- There is no such thing as a ‘whites’ wash and a ‘colour’ wash

12- Smile more, worry less

13- Always carry around your diary with you, you never know when you might need it

14- Always carry a packet of tissues with you, you never know who might need it

15- Family is important, don’t take it for granted

16- If it wasn’t meant to be, it wasn’t meant to be

17- Some friends are shitty, learn quickly who is there for you and who is not

18- Money don’t grow on trees, you need to work for that shit

19-Always tell the people that you love that you love them

20- Life will never go the way you plan it

Ps- here are some picks of me attempting to roller blade because you are never too old or too young to have a bit of stupid fun
